From Side Hustle to 7-Figure Business: Tanya Aliza Interview

One of the best things about my job is getting to interview people who have made their dreams a reality. They’ve bet on themselves, built an online business, and took back control of their life.
In today’s post, I want to share an amazing interview I got to have with a top EasyWebinar user – Tanya Aliza. She went from wanting to make $5,000 per month to building a massive online business that has impacted tens of thousands of students.
Who is Tanya Aliza?
As her website says, Tanya Aliza is the “No B.S. mentor to smart marketers” and helps others grow their online business and brand to create a dream lifestyle. She’s been crushing it in the online marketing world since 2010 and since selling online courses in 2014. Plus, she has impacted over 30,000 students with her amazing digital courses and products!
Like most of you, her goal was small in the beginning. She wanted to make $5,000/month working at home on projects she loved instead of the traditional 9-5 route.
Fast forward a decade later and she’s done that and a lot more. Now, she turned her side hustle into a multi-7 figure business that is impacting people worldwide. Similar to my backstory, she used free “no pitch” webinars to build her list in the beginning and build an email list of loyal followers.
After testing out VSL’s and other launch methods, she quickly realized that webinars led to the highest conversion rates. After making millions of dollars using live and automated webinars, I wanted to share some of her secrets to success.
In her 10+ years as an entrepreneur, she’s used all sorts of different webinar software. In the past she was an EasyWebinar customer, left because we didn’t have some features, we made some tweaks, and now she’s back… and a loyal fan of our software. And today, she’s sharing some of her biggest tips for list building and creating a raving fan base with webinars.
How She’s Using EasyWebinar
While I highly suggest watching the entire fireside chat we had together, I wanted to share some tangible tips in this post too.
Live & Automated Webinars
Tanya learned the power of webinars in 2014 when she generated $250,000 in revenue in a 10-day launch. Riding high on her success, she was eager to keep it going and keep serving her audience as students were getting amazing results. So she decided to launch it as an evergreen product on her website that was available 24/7.
But when she did, sales were crickets and paled in comparison to her live launch. Since there was no urgency or scarcity, people weren’t eager to buy and had no incentive to do so.
Like a true entrepreneur, she learned from her “failure” and tried something new… this time with automated evergreen webinars. While they did better than her last launch, sales still weren’t anywhere near the live launch results. As she said, “It did okay but it was not epic results by any means.”
The next time she decided to remove her evergreen offers from her website and instead, try out her new “Freebie method.”
Instead of driving paid and organic traffic straight to an evergreen webinar, Tanya started testing her own unique Freebie method.
So what is the difference between her freebie method vs. sending people straight to an automated webinar?
The main difference is that she’s warming her audience up with her freebie before asking them to commit to a webinar. Instead of directing people straight to a webinar, she’s warming them up with epic free content that is valuable to them.
Here’s how it works… you opt in to her freebie and on the thank you page, there’s an invitation for her automated webinar. Plus, it’s in her confirmation email as well. This helps build her email list and fill evergreen webinars (plus, it also works for live launches too).
Her freebie funnel then sells the webinar, which sells her offer. This strategy takes away all promotion on the front end and makes it the middle of her funnel. And it works wonders as she has 60% or more of people who sign up for the freebie register for her webinar!
Not only have we used it at EasyWebinar with great success, but Tanya went from 10-20 course sales per week to 50-80 with this strategy!

Why The Freebie Method Works
I think one of the main reasons that Tanya has found so much success is because she’s extremely integral with her marketing. She’s not out to dupe her audience and create false scarcity or urgency.
The freebie method works because it’s not branded on the outside, it’s more of an internal invite to register for the webinar. This gives more value for her followers and helps her sell more effectively with more urgency than a 24/7 automated webinar.
Plus, it helps her condition her audience to take action when she says to take action. Not to mention, the freebie before a webinar adds credibility upfront. This gives her time to indoctrinate her audience and help speed up the know like trust factor before a webinar.
How to Create Epic Freebie Content
The key to making this work is by creating a freebie that is insanely valuable and 100% unique.
You want to make something so good that people would pay money for it. As Tanya said, “What’s the real world value of your free content? What’s the ROI to their life from using it?”
There’s no “one” type of freebie either. She uses a daily social media planner, while others use a checklist, others use an e-book, and others a free video course. At the end of the day, it’s about creating something that your audience wants.
That’s why you need to listen to your audience and then create something that they want (and need). Don’t create something you think is awesome unless first learning from your audience.
A great way to do that is to survey and ask your people what they want and need. Then, make sure that it relates to the next step of your funnel, which is the webinar. The opt-in needs to relate to your audience so that it’s congruent with your webinar and offer.
Regardless of what you create, always lead with value when creating any piece of free content. It can’t be fluffy either, it needs to get your people results!
Put yourself in your audience shoes and create something to help them get tangible results. Pretty soon they’ll be asking… “If their free stuff is this good, I wonder what their paid programs are like?”
As Tanya said, “You can give away your best stuff and still make sales.” Like she said, she buys people’s offers (like Amy Porterfield) just because she’s such a fan and learned so much from her free content.
Webinars for MOFU (Middle of Funnel)
One of the many reasons I love webinars is because they work in several parts of your funnel. They can work at the top of your funnel (TOFU) to get people to accelerate the know, like, and trust factor.
Or, they can also work great in the middle and bottom of your funnel too. As Tanya discussed in-depth during our chat, webinars for the middle of the funnel has been a huge part of her success.
Here’s how her webinar plays a pivotal role in her funnel:
- Step 1: User opts in for freebie (whether organically through free content or with paid ads)
- Step 2: User goes to a thank you page. On the page is a video of her inviting them to the webinar. She lists out benefits and what they’ll get out by attending.
- Step 3: If they don’t register, they will get a three message email followup to register for evergreen webinar.
This strategy helps her promote her evergreen webinar with integrity and make it more of a personal invitation for email subscribers only.
Messaging = The X Factor
While all these strategies are important and clearly work, don’t forget the X factor — your messaging. If your messaging is off, it’ll be nearly impossible to make consistent sales and scale your business.
Tanya learned this lesson early on. After one of her first course launches failed, in her debrief she realized that she didn’t position it right… her messaging was off. She said that she sold what it was, NOT what it does (aka the results students get from investing).
While webinars are still the best ways to sell your products and services, it’s important that you stay adaptable. As Tanya and I discussed, people are busier than ever and asking someone for 60-90 minutes (especially with a cold audience) is a big ask.
To give yourself the best chance for success, make sure that you have the right message for the right audience. For example, she might send warm traffic straight to a right on time webinar. But for cold traffic might wait a few days so she sends a nice welcome sequence beforehand.
Finally, please remember that testing never ends. Even if you create a high converting webinar funnel, it doesn’t mean you should get complacent. Tanya, like so many other successful EasyWebinar users, is constantly testing new offers and making tweaks throughout her funnel.
While her success is nothing short of amazing, don’t think she went from 0 to 7-figures overnight without any stumbles along the way. As she discussed in our chat, she failed her way to success.
As someone who followed the same path, I can’t stress the importance of understanding that success is earned and takes time for it to pan out.
