I meet so many people who are just getting started and they think they can just wing it with their webinar slides. But that’s the wrong way to go about it. If you’re currently doing that or have in the past, I bet you’re losing out on a ton of revenue.

A slide presentation is a visual communication tool that illustrates your message and your message deserves the best.

If you follow these tips, I’m confident your webinar slides will help you create an epic presentation that converts attendees.

1. Start With an Outline

You wouldn’t write a book without thinking about the table of contents and creating an outline beforehand right? The same goes for your webinar!

While you might feel eager to jump right into the slide creation process, it’s going to lead a frazzled and hard to follow webinar. You need to start with an outline so you can have a clear flow for your webinar.

Here’s what you should do to begin your webinar slides:

• Establish your hook
• Outline key points you want to make
• Order them in a fun yet clear structure
• Notate design ideas, colors, effects, and anything else that will entertain and educate your audience.

Remember, your slides are nothing more than tools that enhance your message. Don’t fall into the trap of believing your slides are your message. They’re not. They are just a way to structure your webinar.

2. Use a Consistent Color Palette

If you want your webinar slides to look professional, you need to choose a color palette and stick with it throughout your presentation. Personally, I think it looks great when you have your logo on the bottom and match the colors with your brand.

Even if you don’t match your logo or brand, keeping a consistent color palette will give your slides a cohesive and polished look. Make sure to use these colors for text boxes, shapes, transparent image overlays, and backgrounds.

It’s important to note that different colors will bring out different feelings for your audience as well. With the right color, you can emphasize a point, add meaning, create a mood and more.

Lastly, always have someone else outside your organization give it a final run through. You want to make sure that you choose colors that make it easy for your attendees to read your text. Make sure to use colors to create contrast and highlight key parts of your message.

3. Create an Awesome Title Slide

You only get one first impression with your attendees, this makes your title slide extremely important for your presentation. Plus, the title slide may be used for webinar promotions, and it’s usually the thumbnail as well. That being said, your title slide is crucial to your slide deck.

Here are a few things that every title slide needs:

• Webinar title: Make sure your title grabs attention and conveys value immediately. You need to give attendees a clear expectation of what is to come.
• Subtitle: Using a smaller text, expand on your title so your audience knows exactly why they should register with your subtitle.
• Your logo and any partner logos: Clearly show who is hosting the webinar. If you’re partnering with anyone else, make sure to add an image and logo as well.
• An eye-catching image: Your image shouldn’t make it hard to read your title, but it should help catch your audience’s attention.

4. Use a Simple and Clean Presenter Slide

Another thing I can’t stress enough is to keep your slides clean and simple. Less more when it comes to your webinar slides.

With your presenter slides, it’s best to showcase your webinar speakers with a presenter slide. This slide should include professional headshots of each of your presenters along with their name, title, and their company’s logo.

Don’t feel like it’s necessary to include a bio on the slides themselves. But I would recommend having as part of your webinar script so you can build credibility and trust with your audience.

5. Create a Powerful Agenda Slide

People want to know what they’re attending and what’s in it for them. Don’t make them wait until the 10th slide to tell them what the webinar is about.

Make sure to tell them right at the beginning with a simple agenda slide. Use bullet points to keep the slide clear and concise. Also, use language that teases the epic content that you will deliver.

6. Use GIFs, Icons & Graphs

A well-designed slide deck means that each slide is part of the same narrative you’re teaching in your webinar. While you should keep the formatting and text the same, don’t make it feel like a boring deck you get in a college classroom.

Also, don’t be afraid to break your consistency with graphs, icons, memes or even GIF. Remember, each slide shouldn’t look exactly the same. Instead, look for ways to transform your message without drifting too far away from the structure you’ve created.

7. Use Engaging Photography

Photography is one of the easiest ways to make your webinar stand out and actually engage your audience. But if you’re using stock images that are boring and not related to the topic of your webinar, you will probably see attendees duck out early.

My recommendation is to get professional photos done of you and your business. This way you can have someone on your team edit and customize them for your webinars. Plus, you can also use the images on the registration page, sales, and thank you pages.

8. Don’t Forget a Recap Slide

A recap slide is crucial to round out your webinar. Remember, people, learn through repetition.  Make it easy for your attendees to have a slide with the major lessons of your webinar.

9.  End With a CTA

Webinars are about providing value and building trust. But once you’ve taught for 45 minutes or so, it’s time to end with your call to action.

Whether you want your audience to sign up for another webinar, complete a purchase, try a new product feature, you need to tell them exactly what you want them to do.

Let me say this again, you need to tell them what to do!

Don’t assume they will understand the next steps. You want to create a strong CTA that resonates with your audience and place it on your last slide so it’s the last thing people see before they log out.
