How to Turn YouTube Subscribers Into Webinar Leads
Are you using YouTube to attract new people and grow your business yet? If yes, are you turning your subscribers into leads for webinars? The reason I ask is that YouTube is booming and I’ve seen it be an unbelievable 1-2 punch with webinars to grow your business.
If you aren’t using YouTube yet, check out these stats. According to Brandwatch, “YouTube is the second largest search engine and 400 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute.”
Not to mention, check out these stats from the same article:
- 5 out of 10 people prefer online video platforms to live TV.
- In an average month, 8 out of 10 18-49 year-olds watch YouTube.
- On mobile alone, YouTube reaches more 18-49 year-olds than any broadcast or cable TV.
- More than a 1 billion hours of YouTube videos are watched per day – more than Netflix and Facebook combined.
As an entrepreneur, all these statistics make the platform a huge opportunity to attract your ideal audience. Not to mention, you can easily repurpose your videos for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Plus, getting comfortable with video marketing will likely help your webinar presentations and engagement on other social media platforms too.
As Carey Lowell said, “There is something about video marketing that helps it stay apart from the other online marketing tactics. When done correctly, all you need is one video marketing campaign to build up highly targeted traffic for a really long time.”
Remember, video marketing allows you to engage with your audience unlike most platforms. Combined with a webinar, video marketing is absolute gold when it comes to building the know, like, and trust factor with your audience.
My Start on YouTube
In my experience, I’ve found webinars work great after a YouTube video as people have already watched a longer form video. They’re in the right frame of mind and ready to take action.
Okay, I have to confess, I might be slightly biased towards the platform as it was the focus of my first course in 2012. My course, YouTube Revealed, was an in-depth course that helped jumpstart my online entrepreneurship journey.
While I got a ton of subscribers on YouTube back then, I struggled with converting them into sales. Eventually, I started using webinars and almost overnight, my life and business changed. In the first year of running webinars, I grew my list from almost nothing to 14,000 people!
And a lot of those people first found me on YouTube. Fast-forward to now and the platform is still as popular as ever. Plus, with no other direct competition and being a Google owned property, I imagine it will only keep growing.
As an entrepreneur, it’s time to stop thinking of YouTube as a place to watch funny videos and start thinking of it as a place to grow your brand. YouTube, plus webinars can have a massive impact on your leads, sales, and growth of your business.
In this post, I want to show you exactly how to turn your YouTube subscribers into webinar registrations to grow your list (and sales).
How to Use YouTube To Promote Webinars
Before jumping into YouTube tips, I want to first say that arguably the number one metric in your business is email subscribers. Not Instagram followers, Facebook fans, or LinkedIn connections.
Quite frankly, those are just vanity numbers that don’t mean much. You’re only one social media apocalypse away from losing them all. While subscribers, fans and followers are cool, they don’t pay the bills but your email list can.
However, your email list is pure gold. As David Newman said, “Email has an ability many channels don’t: creating valuable, personal touches, at scale.”
The goal is to get as many of your social media fans, followers, and subscribers on your email list. This way you can send out customized messages and ensure that you own your list, not some social media conglomerate.
Social media is about creating content that resonates with your audience and helps grow your email list. Compared to Instagram or Facebook, I’ve found that it’s much easier to convert a YouTube subscriber into an email subscriber.
Use these tips to help grow your YouTube channel and grow your email list in the process.
1. Focus on Long Form Content
With YouTube, studies have found that people watch videos for a much longer duration than Instagram or Facebook. While YouTube doesn’t keep the attention as long as a webinar, long form video content is a great way to engage with your audience.
Make sure you give the YouTube audience what they want and create longer content on YouTube than other platforms. YouTube is not the platform for short, bite sized clips, save that for Instagram.
Instead, give your audience what they want by creating videos that are at least ten minutes long. If possible, try to shoot for 10-35+ minutes but don’t make long videos just for the sake of it. Instead, plan out your content so that each video has the potential to rank in YouTube search, help your audience, and has a clear call to action to get people to join your email list.
After releasing some videos and using your YouTube analytics dashboard, you can start to see what is working for your audience (and what isn’t). Similar to a webinar, you want to study the analytics so you aren’t creating content that no one is watching.
When you create longer content, it gives the audience an opportunity to get to know you. While you don’t need to make them 45-60 minutes (leave that type of content for your webinar), longer content will help you build the know, like, and trust factor.
During your videos, make sure you mention your program, methodology or framework, and CTA’s to join your email list as well. If you have an automated webinar, this is also a great time to mention it as well or call it out in your caption.
2. Produce Consistent Content
The second key to YouTube is to stay consistent with new videos if you want consistent growth month after month.
For example, if you have five videos filmed and ready to go, it’s better to release them weekly on YouTube instead of all at once and never being seen on the platform again. Focus on creating a schedule and try to stick with it each week.
You could even theme days based on your niche and offer. This will help create demand and desire for videos while also making it easier to batch create content.
3. Utilize YouTube SEO
If you create an awesome video but don’t use the right SEO tactics, you’re probably not going to get as much traction. This means fewer people signing up for your email list, despite spending time creating epic videos.
While YouTube SEO is a topic in itself, here are some of my best tips to help you rank in the second biggest search engine:
- Select one main keyword.
- Have your keyword in your title.
- Research popular videos in your niche for keywords.
- Use 10-15 tags to help YouTube understand your video.
- Speak your keywords and secondary keywords in your videos.
- Use a free or paid program like TubeBuddy to optimize, study, and grow your channel.
- Fill out your description with links to other content, lead magnets, and have your keyword listed several times (don’t keyword stuff).
All these tips can help you get more views and rank higher in search results so you can attract your ideal audience!
4. Fill Out YouTube Description
Finally, in the video description, give them a clear CTA to get your lead magnet or go straight to an automated webinar. If you’re running an automated funnel, I suggest having this be the first link in the description.
On the other hand, if you’re running live launches and no automation, send them to a waitlist page or an opt-in so you can get them on your email list. A Hubspot article also recommends, “Add hyperlinked ‘end cards’ to your YouTube videos that encourage people to subscribe to your channel via their email address.”
Additionally, in the description you can link to more of your content, related playlists, and social media. Make it easy for your audience to learn more about you so you can build a bond and become an expert in your niche.
Summary
I’m confident that these four strategies will help you increase your reach on YouTube, attract new people, and grow your list. This is a huge opportunity that I don’t want you to miss out on.
YouTube is growing at an unprecedented rate and I want you to take advantage of this growth to create valuable content for your audience. If your demographic is between 18-49 years old, start making YouTube a top priority. Start thinking of your YouTube channel as a way to attract a new audience and show off your expertise with the world.
When used properly it can help you:
- Get organic leads to grow your list.
- Become an industry expert in your niche.
- Create viral hits that you can use in nurture sequences.
- Attract affiliate partners to help promote your webinars and launches.
And so much more.
Since YouTube has a lot of similarities with webinars, it’s also a great way to overcome your fear of speaking and create content people love. Plus, it can generate you leads for years to come!
Once you start growing your YouTube channel, make sure to get them on your email list ASAP. One of the ways you can do that is having a link to automated webinars. This way you can grow your list and get sales on autopilot!
